Privacy Terms. Quick links. Post Reply. It seems a little slow to launch the dashboard from any client but where it really slows down is when i use a filter like only showing unwatched items. I have tried this with Roku streamers and the web based interface and I do notice the the screen just sits there for about 10 seconds before I get the whirling icon and then it takes another 10 seconds until I see the list.
Without the filter it is much better and the shows start to show up almost instantly. Anyone else running this setup with similar results? I am running QTS4. Only video. Mostly p MKV not that that should matter. Checked my cable, reserved a lease on my router for the NAS, optimized the library, emptied the trash, and cleaned bundles.
Still running ridiculously slowly. The slowness is in the interface not while playing I haven't even tried that since the interface is unacceptable so transcoding is not in the equation nor is any of the streaming settings.
All of the other "stations" are disable. The processor is pretty close to zero. And by web client I am talking about Plex web client. I tested streaming p no issues, transcoding p and it keeps up but just barely but not an issue since i neither need to transcode much nor do I keep a lot of p tv shows.
I also just finished uninstalling and then re-installing the previous version from the App Center, no change. Looking in the logs I get a warning message whenever I access a filtered library. When compared to the Linux server it usually gets an equivalent warning but in the ms range. If your NAS is operating on a private home network, you may want to disable transport encryption mode use at your own risk and enable opportunistic locking:.

Now I am attempting to sync the Music folder on my tablet SSD remembering how much quicker the transfer was on the desktop. This is beyond painful. Many other descriptive words. Thank you! MTU size is the same on the PC. I applied the settings, but made no difference, even after 5 mins.
Rebooted NAS, and now performance is back to full speed, like when this issue randomly appeared about 3 years ago. Got my answer. Guess I need to be patient…. For anyone wondering, you can do this live. Your time machine backup or file transfers will quietly recover from the extremely brief disconnect.
Slow performance suddenly
Networking at this level recovers all on its own. Yeah — wow! I was doing an rysnc at 7. Scratch that — the network disruption unmounted the share and Ubuntu wrote to the root disk. Turns out my network cable clip is broken, and somehow dislodged just enough to go to Mbit. LOL — I feel your pain. Just wanted to comment for others that might stumble upon this. This really worked — cut a 90gb move from 16 hours to 3 hours. So I hope that a step in the right direction.
Thanks for that. Good morning. Your hint made my month!
Now speed is up to which is perfect. Again: Thank you very much and all the best for you and your family. The transport encryption mode adds encryption to SMB V3. I have added much content recently to my Plex, but I doubt that could have any effect?PLEX MEDIA SERVER COMPLETE 2020 SETUP - EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
When using "rclone sync -v source destination" command, I am getting speeds of about 25 MB per seconds, which is far from what the files on Plex requires. Any suggestions to what the issue might be?
As said earlier, it has worked. I am not sure what the CPU usage was when it was actually working. Last edited: Aug 12, Reactions: 1 user.I've been using Plex flawlessly on my Roku for well over a year now, but suddenly, as of the last few weeks, the Plex app on my Roku is slow to load movies, if it can even load them at all, and often just stops mid-movie, or buffers or even just refuses to load.
I'm running Plex Media Server off of an iMac and the software there is up-to-date. I've noticed also that my preferred setting of "Direct Play with Fallback" is not being honored when I try and watch a movie.
It's just saying "Play" suddenly even though the settings are for "with Fallback. Have you tried rebooting?
Windows 10 Slow Suddenly! Effective Fixes Here to Speed Up Windows 10
I do not think it is Plex, I think it is the Roku. All of my stuff slows down, Crackle, Amazon, etc the actual Roku channels. Not sure if it is when Plex tries to play something and that slows the Roku down or if the Roku slows down no matter what. I usually reboot the Roku and it fixes it though. I am seeing this as well tonight.
It keeps on saying Video Unavailable. I can play videos on my computer and tablets with no issues. Other channels are working on the roku with no issues. Ditto for me. I haven't changed anything in my setup, which is latest PMS running on a Mac and latest channel update on Roku.
I had this same issue a few weeks ago and switching to the Universal Transcoder in the settings seemed to fix it. Now it's happening again, worse than before. Local videos are very slow to load, sometimes "can't be found," and items from my queue ie youtube don't load at all. These issues are all like on several threads going now, including one I started.
I'm sorry to say that it really seems to me that something in Plex got broken in this last update. Ever since, I've never - N-e-v-e-r watched a movie straight through. I'll have as many as 10 disconnects "video not available" during the course of one hour. And most of the time, my library doesn't even show up on Roku.Joinsubscribers and get a daily digest of news, geek trivia, and our feature articles.
The Plex experience centers around two apps: the server which holds your media and the client the app with which you watch your media, usually on your TV, your phone, or other set-top box. All the heavy lifting happens on the server side—the streaming, the transcoding of the streaming when necessary, etc. If you experience choppy playback, regular buffering, and other similar issues, optimization can save the day.
The catch is that the optimized video is stored as a separate video file with your other media and, you guessed it, takes up space. While you can jump right in and optimize your entire library with only a few clicks once you know where to lookthe optimization process is both CPU and storage intensive.
To get started with optimization, open up the web dashboard of your Plex Media Server. Select a video library. When you find the media you want to optimize, hover over the entry and click on the three dots that appear in the lower right corner. Where you store the media is completely a personal choice. A popup window will indicate that your media is undergoing optimization.
If you have more than one item in the queue, you can drag and drop the individual entries to move them to the top of the queue. The transcoding of just this one film took approximately 20 minutes on our multi-core server. Once the conversion is complete, we can take a peek to see how the file size changed.
In our case, the original file was a p video with a file size of 8. Both our network and our CPU have lighter loads to carry when we want to stream it from afar.
The only thing to be aware of here is that when you delete an optimization rule, you delete all the optimized versions you made with it. It takes a little bit to get the hang of optimizing things to pin down exactly what settings work best for your needs, but once you have some solid optimization rules in place the whole experience is fire and forget—no more stuttering video or buffering.

Interested to know if there is a better way! Apr 7, 63 It is suspected that a large portion of the slowness is due to an update that Google did on the back end. Then you have to add analyzing files, writing to the DB, etc which adds even more time. So yes there is an issue, unfortunately the issue is caused by something Google Did. The good folks at Rclone are trying to find a way around it but there is no ETR.
